Reacting to a letter EurEta President, Mr. Urs Gassmann, has addressed to the President of the European Council, Mr. Charles Michel, with the aim to underline the need of strengthening the sector of practice-oriented professionals as Europe is struggling to cope with the COVID-19 generated crisis, the Council stressed the importance of skills development, upskilling, and reskilling in the European Social Rights Action Plan.

Writing to President Gassmann, the Head of Cabinet of Charles Michel, Mr. Frédéric Bernard, agreed that the past year made obvious “the importance of skills and mobility within our Single Market”. Mr. Bernard assured EurEta that the Social Summit planned for next May in Porto will boost our professional category in the context of the implementation of the European Recovery Plan.

The Head of Cabinet concluded by affirming that “social partners, including professional organisations like EurEta are playing a central role in articulating an effective response to the crisis and they will continue to do so”.

We feel that the letter from the Presidency of the Council is a quite hopeful sign for our professionals and for the youngsters who are envisaging a practice oriented career. As a legitimate voice of our sector, EurEta is going to actively monitor the implementation of the Recovery Plan and keep you posted on any evolutions.
